How to submit your film and enter the competition

 

There are three ways you can enter your film into the competition:

1.  Upload it to Vimeo.
2.  Email it to us.
3.  Post it to us.

However you submit your film you should send us an email that contains the following information:

• Film title and length
• A very brief synopsis of your film.
• Age category
• Main contact name
• Your phone number
• Your postal address.
• If you are entering as a group we will need the names of the other group members.

1. Upload to Vimeo.

It would be helpful if you could submit your film by uploading it to the video hosting site Vimeo.   We have chosen to use Vimeo because it is the simplest video hosting site to join and unlike Facebook or Youtube asks for a minimum of personal information.  Vimeo free has a maximum file size of 500MB so if your film is bigger than this you will have to email it to us – see below.

You will need a Vimeo account – if you need help with this see below.  If you are under 16 then a parent or guardian should create an account on your behalf.

The best format to use is MP4.

When you upload your film please remember to give it a title and include the director’s name and the age category it is entered in.

Once the film is uploaded you need to send us a link so we can find it.

Just click on the paper aeroplane which will appear when you play your video on Vimeo and enter our email address (info@dunbarfilm.org.uk).

 

How to sign up for a Vimeo account.

You will need to navigate to the Vimeo homepage (Vimeo.com)

Fill in the three boxes. Click join and you are done.

On the next page, choose Vimeo basic which is free.

You will need to verify your email address before uploading a video.

They will send you an email and all you have to do is follow the instructions in it. Remember to check your junk or spam folder if it doesn’t look like it has arrived.

 

2. Email it to us.

If you want, you can email your film to us.  This will be necessary if your film file is bigger than 500MB (max for a free Vimeo account).   As  your film will also be too big for normal email you will have to use a file transfer service such as wetransfer.

All you have to do is chose the free service and accept the terms and conditions.  A little form will come up.  Click on the + to add films.  Enter our email address as recipient – info@dunbarfilm.org.uk – and add your own email address.
